A Nail Artist (often referred to as a Nail Technician or Manicurist) is a specialized beauty professional who cares for, grooms, and artistically decorates a client’s fingernails and toenails.
While a standard manicurist focuses primarily on the basic health and grooming of the nail, a nail artist treats the nail as a miniature canvas, combining cosmetic care with intricate visual art.
Key Responsibilities
- Nail Grooming & Care: Cleaning, shaping, and filing nails, as well as managing and moisturizing cuticles to ensure a healthy base.
- Artistic Design: Applying creative visual designs to the nails using specialized tools. This includes hand-painted patterns, 3D embellishments (like rhinestones or charms), ombre gradients, and stickers.
- Nail Extensions & Enhancements: Applying, shaping, and maintaining artificial nail structures such as acrylics, hard gels, gel-X extensions, and polygel.
- Sanitization & Safety: Disinfecting and sterilizing metal tools, using disposable files, and maintaining a hygienic workspace to ensure client safety.
GACLA offers a certification of the specialist for nail art.
